Dvorakova Earns A-Sun Honor

BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University's Alena Dvorakova was named the Atlantic Sun Conference women's tennis Player-of-the-Week on Wednesday afternoon. The award marks the second time Dvorakova has been honored by the league in three weeks. Dvorakova went 2-0 over the past week and led the Lady Owls past defending A-Sun Champs UCF. The sophomore from Prague, Czech Republic, defeated UCF's Anna Westin, 6-0, 6-1 in no. 72 FAU's 5-2 victory. The win moved the Lady Owls to 3-0 in league play.
In a 5-2 FAU loss to no. 41 Virginia, Dvorakova defeated Jennifer Touchband, 6-1, 6-3. The win was her eighth consecutive in singles dual match play. In the month of February Dvorakova didn't drop a single set. Overall, she is 8-1 in dual match play.
In doubles dual match play, Dvorakova boasts a 7-3 record, including a 4-2 record when paired with teammate Karolina Roubickova.
As a team, the Lady Owls are 7-3 and have won five of their previous six matches.
FAU will host no. 74 Boston College on March 7, at 11:00 am.
