Macon, GA. - Florida Atlantic University's Matt Anderson became the first men's golfer in program history to be awarded the Atlantic Sun Conference Male Golfer-of-the-Week when the conference announced it Thursday afternoon. Anderson finished seventh individually at the Treasure Coast WTC Hero's Classic in leading the Owls to a seventh place finish.
Anderson, a senior from Tallahassee, FL, shot an opening round 71 to finish in a third place tie after the first day. It marked the third time in four tournaments that Anderson completed the first day in the top ten. Anderson finished the tournament in seventh place for his third top ten finish of the spring. Anderson leads the men's team in scoring for the spring semester with an average of 74.5, almost four strokes ahead of the next Owl.
FAU has been awarded three A-Sun Golfer-of-the-Week awards between both the men and women's team, most among the A-Sun schools.
FAU men's golf continues its season when they participate in the Amoco Ultimate-Young Oil Intercollegiate March 31-April 1, in Jacksonville, FL.
