BOCA RATON, FL -- Florida Atlantic University will play its season finale when it hosts the University of Central Florida, Saturday, in Boca Raton. The game begins at 7:00pm at FAU Gymnasium.
FAU enters the game 7-20 overall and 3-12 in the Atlantic Sun Conference. The game will also mark senior night for the Owls as Avery Headley, Nick Neumann, and Antoine Stevens will be recognized before the game.
In FAU's last outing, Jeff Cowans scored a season-high 24 points in a 76-66 loss to Troy State on February 22. Earnest Crumbley finished with 11 as FAU dropped its fourth straight game. Wes Edwards also grabbed a season-high 13 rebounds in the loss. Crumbley leads the Owls with 16.1 points per game.
UCF enters the game 18-10 overall and 10-5 in the A-Sun South. The Golden Knights are led by Ray Abellard, who averages 16.1 points per game. Ed Dotson is second with 13.9 points.
FAU trails the all-time series 16-5. That includes an 80-69 loss on January 4 in Orlando. FAU is 4-7 against UCF at FAU Gymnasium but has won the past two meetings.
Fans are encouraged to come to the game early as there will be a tailgate party outside FAU Gymnasium beginning at 5:00pm. It will feature free food and drinks along with live music for the first 100 students with a $5 cost for alumni members and $10 for non-alumni members. In addition, performances by the FAU Dance and Cheer teams along with giveaways will be part of the tailgate party. For more information, fans can call (561) 297-1172.
