BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University received a national letter of intent from high school men's golfer Marco Morales to begin play in the 2004-05 season, announced head coach Matt Anderson. Morales will be the third player from Christopher Columbus High School to join the Owls team, joining former teammates Alan Pereda and Tommy Suri.
"We are very excited to have signed a player of Marco's caliber," said head coach Matt Anderson. "He is a fantastic player who is expected to come in and make an impact right away."
Morales, named to the Miami-Dade All-County team three times, has helped lead Christopher Columbus to two high school state championships. Last season, as a junior, he posted a 34.5 stroke average. The senior from Miami, FL, finished second at the prestigious North/South Junior Tournament. Morales has won two Florida Junior Golf Association events and has placed in the top-five in four state tournaments.
FAU resumes play for the 2003-04 season on Monday, February 16 at the UCF/Rio Pinar Intercollegiate.
