Lady Owls Face A-Sun Opener

BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University takes on Central Florida Thursday night in the Atlantic Sun Conference opener for both teams. The game begins at 7:00pm at FAU Gymnasium and can be heard on www.fausports.com.
FAU enters the game with a 1-2 record. The Lady Owls are coming off the FAU/Embassy Suites Classic last Friday and Saturday. FAU defeated Norfolk State in the first round, 88-71, before falling to Manhattan, 75-70, in the championship. Shontavia Williams was named to the All-Tournament Team after leading FAU in scoring in both games.
On the year, Trineca McCleod leads FAU with 14.7 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. Williams is second with 13.0ppg.
UCF enters the game with a 1-3 record. The Golden Knights have losses against Manhattan, Purdue, and Florida State, with their lone win coming against Nicholls State. Celeste Hudson leads the team with 11.5ppg, and Takira Allen chips in 8.8.
FAU trails the all-time series 16-6. The Lady Owls are 3-7 all-time against the Golden Knights at FAU Gymnasium. Most recently, UCF won both games last year and has won three of the past four.
The game marks the first of 20 regular season A-Sun games for the Lady Owls. It will be the only one until January 3 when the bulk of conference games begins for all teams.
