Question from Shadow Dancer Ward: Who is the best point guard to ever play in Louisville Kentucky???
A:The best point guard that I have EVER seen play, anywhere, is from Lousiville, Ky. That would be Patty Jo Hedges. She played at the University of Kentucky and led the team to its only SEC title and a #4 national ranking. Of course that was back in the day! Patty Jo was also on the gold medal Pan American team and was an alternate for the '84 Olympics. She lost out because Pat Summitt wanted HER point guard on the team--one Lea Henry, the current coach at Georgia State.
Question from Howard Mulligan: You seem to get very emotionally involved in the game from the bench. Many coaches such as Pat Summit do not seem to get very emotional about what goes on during the game, but are cool-headed during the game. My question is, how big of an importance do you consider your emotional actions an importance and why? Thank you.
A: I am an emotional person. Probable lost some games because of it, but we've won a lot more because of it. I would say that I'm a very intense coach who likes to see her players play HARD. The last time I saw Pat on TV her veins were sticking out of the top of her head....she is EMOTIONAL. I would love to be more like my all time favorite coach Denny Crum (Louisville). They called him "cool hand Luke", but that just is not ME. I don't play ANY "head games" with my players. They know exactly what I'm feeling, and what to expect. I have made a new years resolution to try and stay off the officials :)
Question from Carl Logan: How did your parents decide to give you the name Chancellor? And will the burrowing Owls make the NCAA's this year?
A: My name is a family name, it's my middle name. It was my great grandfather's, on my mom's side, last name. When I was six my dad wanted to call me something that only he would know, but I liked it SO much better than my first name, so I started using Chancellor. The answer to the second part of the question is YES!!! We are working so hard toward that goal.
Question from Sondra Cooper:I have a daughter who plays for North Broward Prep. Do you run a summer camp? She is completely excited with your program when she has the opportunity to see your girls play. We are interested in a very serious program, if you do not run one do you have any suggestions? Thank you.
A:We have summer camps and I will have the dates, types and times on our web site soon, so check back!!
Question from Jesse Blake:Why doesn't Vegas give the A-Sun the respect it deserves and give us some spreads on basketball games. Sadly this is a good question because it can only help FAU get noticed more in national presence if it seen throughout the country in newspapers and game matchups at the Taj.
A: I really don't have any idea. I would like to see us get more recognition and you are right, that would be one way... we are going to try for the other....that is JUST WIN BABY!!!
