MIAMI LAKES, FL - Florida Atlantic University finished fifth at the 2002 Ryder Florida Women's Collegiate Championship in Miami Lakes, FL. The Lady Owls shot a 319 in Sunday's final round at the par-72, 6,317-yard Don Shula's Golf Resort. FAU finished with a three-round total of 940, which was five strokes better that sixth-place Central Florida. FAU finished tops among four Atlantic Sun Conference teams that were part of the 13-team field.
Jessica Carafiello led FAU in the final round with a four-over par 76. Jessica Polus shot a 78 while finishing the tournament fourth overall. FAU's Natalia Navarro finished second on the team and tied for 16th overall.
Florida State won the tournament with a total of 900. Florida was second at 911 while South Florida took third at 918. The University of Miami finished fourth with 930.
Florida Atlantic next takes part in the A-Sun Championship April 15-17 in Howey-in-the-Hills, FL.
