Women's Tennis Falls at A-Sun Tourney

MACON, GA - Florida Atlantic University fell to Campbell University, 4-3, Friday evening in a quarterfinal match at the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament in Macon, GA. The loss ends the Lady Owls' season at 14-7.

Campbell won the first two doubles matches to take an early 1-0 lead. The Lady Camels extended that lead to 2-0 with a victory at no. 6 singles. FAU battled back, however, with two straight victories. Karolina Roubickova defeated CU's Carmen Linder 6-2, 6-0 at no. 3 to pull FAU to within 2-1. Alena Dvorakova followed with a 7-6, 6-2 win at no. 1 over Teodora Doncheva to tie the match a 2-2.

At no. 4, Campbell's Alexia Erb defeated FAU's Tania Rivera 6-1, 2-6, 7-6 to give the Lady Camels a 3-2 lead. Shortly thereafter, FAU's Maria Aguirre-Gomez won in three sets at no. 2 to tie the match a 3-3. Campbell would clinch the victory at no. 5 when Isabel Declercq defeated Stephanie Beaulieu in three sets.
