BOCA RATON, FL - Unranked Florida Atlantic University defeated the University of Colorado, 6-1, Friday in Boca Raton. The win over the no. 71 Buffaloes was the 10th straight this season for FAU as the Lady Owls improved to 13-4 overall.
FAU took all three doubles matches for the first point of the contest. Alena Dvorakova and Karolina Roubickova won 8-3 at no. 1 over Sarah Burrows and Kendra Strandemo. Maria Aguirre-Gomez and Tania Rivera won at no. 2 while Jessica Burrow and stephanie Beaulieu did the same at no. 3.
In singles play, impressive winning streaks were extended for FAU as the lady Owls won five of the six matches. At no. 3, Roubickova, ranked no. 109 in singles, improved to 16-0 on the year with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Morgan Sall. Tania Rivera won her 10th straight match with a three-set victory over Colorado's Strandemo. At no. 5, Beaulieu made it eight straight wins with a 6-7, 6-3, 7-6 victory over Tracy Moore. Other winners for FAU included Dvorakova at no. 1 and Burrow at no. 6.
Florida Atlantic next hosts New Mexico State Saturday at 10:00am in its final home match of the season.
