In the first day of competition at the National Independent Conference Championship at Oakland University, Florida Atlantic University's swim team took first in the 400-yard medley relay touching the wall in 3:52.24
Four individual finished in the top three in their events. Andrea Van Der Plaats took third in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:57.55. In the 200 individual medley, Emma Petersson finished with a 'B' cut time of 2:04.28.
Divers Matt Streicher (2nd) and Asheley Boland (3rd) competed in the 3-meter and 1-meter diving events, respectively.
After day one, the women's team is second, while the men currently stand in 5th. Competition continues through March 2.
FAU Swimming Completes Day 2
Four swimmers earn second place finishes
After two days of competition at the National Independant Conference Championsips the Florida Atlantic University men's and women's swim teams are in third and fifth place, respectively. Four different FAU swimmers placed second in their events.
Earning `B' cut times were Marina Mulyayeva in the 100-yard fly in a time of 55.69. The top four finishers in the men's 100-yard breaststroke finished with `B' times including Alex Berger who touched the wall in 54.94 in second and Antony Hine in fourth with a time of 55.61.
Andrea Van Der Plaats completed the 400 IM in 4:28.52 for her second top-three finish.
Marion Reiff took second in three-meter diving with 436.20 points.
Swimming Completes Season
Florida Atlantic University's swim team completed their season at the National Independent Conference Championships on Saturday. Andrea Van Der Plaats competed in the 1650-yard freestyle and won the event in a time of 16:56.05, good enough for a `B' cut time.
Kelly Pancake and Christina Horton both finished third in their events, 200 backstroke and 200 breaststroke, respectively. They finished with times of 2:04.69 and 2:23.15.
The women finish the meet in third place with 667.50 points, while the men earned 399 points for fifth place.
