The Florida Atlantic University women's basketball team returns to action Saturday, December 28, when it hosts Long Island University. The game begins at 3:00pm at FAU Gymnasium in Boca Raton.
FAU (1-7) last played December 19 at home against Eastern Michigan. In that game, the Lady Owls defeated EMU, 83-69, to earn their first victory of the season. Five FAU players finished in double figures with Julie Goad leading the way with 16 points. DeeAnna Hanscom broke an FAU record with 12 blocks while securing her first career double-double. Hanscom also set a career mark with 10 rebounds.
Senior forward Tamica Pierce continues to lead FAU with 13.4 points per game. Junior center Trineca McCleod is averaging 8.8 points while junior guard Janka Deckerova is averaging 8.1 points. Deckerova is 7-for-14 from beyond the arc in her last two games and is averaging 13.3 points over the past three games.
LIU (0-7) is searching for its first victory of the season. Senior forward Tamika Dudley leads the team with 12.9ppg while freshman guard Amber Wirth is averaging 12.6 points.
This is the first meeting between the two schools. Tickets are available at the door. Prices are $6 for adults and $4 for those 18 years old and under.
