Macon, GA. - Florida Atlantic University men's soccer team saw three members earn All-Conference honors as announced by the Atlantic Sun conference Wednesday morning. The Owls placed one on the first team, two on the second team and one on the All-freshman team for the second consecutive year.
First Team
Sophomore forward Kristoffer Aarskog, from Bergen, Norway, recorded 11 goals (tied for second in the A-Sun) and two assists for 24 points (tied for third in the A-Sun) and also led the conference in shots (58).
Second Team
Sophomore midfielder Josh Garbee, a Brandon, FL. native, recorded three goals and six assists (tied for third in the A-Sun) for 12 points, which was second on the team.
Freshman goalkeeper Anders Granstad, from Oslo, Norway, allowed only 17 goals and recorded 74 saves off of 156 shots faced for an 81.3 save percentage. He was second in the conference with a 1.25 goals against average and recorded two shutouts on the year. Granstad was also named to the All-Freshman team, joining Tim Sobczak as the only players to accomplish this feat for FAU.
The 2002 Atlantic Sun Conference Men's Soccer Championships is being hosted by Florida Atlantic University. Play begins on Friday, November 15 at 4:30 pm with in-state rivals #2 seed Jacksonville University playing #3 seed Central Florida. The tournament concludes with the championship game being played Saturday, November 16, at 7:00 pm.
