Question from Enriue Del Prado: I was wondering how many walk-ons you've had on the team since you began coaching for FAU?
A:It is difficult to say how many. At the beginning we relied on walk-ons, but as the recruiting process got better and the level of the team improved, it became more difficult for walk-ons to make the team. Some years we have walk-ons that are very good and we keep them on the team. For example this year three walks-ons made the team.
Question from James E: Do you accept walk-ons into the team roster, or is it only scholarship players?
A:Yes, we accept walk-ons on the team. First we have walk-on tryouts and if we feel that the level of the player is good we will then evaluate the player during training with the regular team.
Question from David Trawin: Do you have alumni games anymore? How does one make a donation to the FAU soccer team and ensure that it is used for soccer?
A:Thank you for you question and I am very glad to hear from you. It is always a pleasure to be in contact with our former players. We will be planning an alumni game for the spring term. If you are in contact with any other former players please forward my e-mail to them. As for donations, as long as you request that your donations go to men's soccer the gift will go into the men's soccer foundation. I do thank you in advance for any donation you may be able to contribute. You can also e-mail me at donev@fau.edu.
Question from Jean E. St. Vil: I will be a student at FAU in January. Do you think I can play for the school at the age of 27?
A:There is an age limit at the NCAA I level. But please feel free to call us during the first week of school in January and we can discuss the different options.
Question from Tyler Sheikh: Your institution receives high praise in Connecticut and I have family in Florida and wish to play my college soccer in Florida. I am a two-time All-Stater up north and would like to get in contact with you. How can I find myself playing for you one day?
A:Thank you for your interest in FAU and our soccer program. You may send us by e-mail your resume and upcoming tournament schedule. Also, a video would be helpful.
