Men's Basketball Names Assistant

Omar Cooper has been named assistant men's basketball coach at Florida Atlantic University, announced head coach Sidney Green.
Cooper spent the past two seasons as an assistant coach at Methodist College where he served as recruiting coordinator while handling team travel, on-the-floor coaching, and scouting opponents. In his two seasons on the staff, the team's record improved from 9-16 to 14-11.
He was also head coach of Methodist's junior varsity team where he guided the program to its first winning season.
"I'm very happy to have Omar on our staff," said Green. "I feel he will bring what is needed for our program at this juncture."
Green says Cooper's responsibilities will include monitoring academics and study halls along with breaking down film and developing scouting reports.
Cooper has worked for several prominent basketball camps including the Five-Star, David Odom's, and Muggsy Bogues camps.
"I am very excited to be joining the FAU men's basketball staff," said Cooper. "Coach Green has shown me nothing but class since I've arrived, and I look forward to assisting him so it can rise to a level of elite status."
Cooper is a native of Greensboro, NC and currently resides in Boca Raton.
