TAMPA, FL -
Florida Atlantic University closed its regular season with a 4-3 victory over host South Florida in Tampa. The Lady Owls improved their record to 11-10, which marks the first time this year the team has been over the .500 mark. Overall, the Lady Owls won eight of their final nine regular season contests.
Against USF, the Lady Owls rallied after dropping the doubles point. Florida Atlantic quickly gained ground in singles play by claiming four of the six victories. No. 71 Kristen Jordan didn't surrender a game at no. 1 in blanking USF's Jennifer Sinclair 6-0, 6-0. Maria Aguiire-Gomez, Tania Rivera, and Jessica Burrow also posted singles victories for the Lady Owls.
FAU is off until the Trans America Athletic Conference championship beginning April 19. The team is two victories shy of setting a team record for wins in a season since moving to Division I seven seasons ago.
