Jeff Cowans Named TAAC Freshman-of-the-Year

Florida Atlantic University's Jeff Cowans has been named Trans America Athletic Conference Freshman-of-the-Year. Teammate Earnest Crumbley was also named to the TAAC's All-Freshman team in post-season honors handed down today.
Cowans led the Owls with 14.0ppg and 61 three-pointers while Crumbley was second with 11.8pppg. Cowans set FAU freshman records for points and three-pointers. He also set a single-game record with nine treys. Crumbley was second on the team with 50 treys and second with 3.4 assists/game.
"We feel honored and privileged to be able to attract two quality players such as Jeff and Earnest," said FAU head coach Sidney Green. We feel they are the sign of where this program is headed. All we have to do is build on the success those two have helped us achieve so far."
"It's also a testament to the hard work our coaching staff has put in to try to build a winning program at Florida Atlantic," said Green.
Cowans is a native of Orlando where he attended Dr. Phillips High School. He is the first player in FAU history to be receive the Freshman-of-the-Year award. Crumbley attended Lakewood High School in St. Petersburg, FL.
The Owls are the 9th seed at this week's TAAC Tournament in Atlanta. FAU will face Campbell in first-round action Wednesday evening at 8:15pm. The game can be heard live on WLVJ 640-AM or on the fausports.com website.
