BOCA RATON, FL -- Florida Atlantic University's women's basketball head coach, Chancellor Dugan, has announced the team's recently completed early signing class. The players include Trineca McCleod (6-0, F/C, Pompano Beach, FL) and Shontavia Williams (5-9, G, Miami, FL). Both players will join FAU for the 2002-03 season.
McCleod is currently attending Daytona Beach Community College after playing for Deerfield Beach High School. As a freshman last year at DBCC, McCleod was an all-conference selection while averaging 11.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game.
"Trineca has good size, and she's deceptively quick," said Dugan. "Bottom line is that she's a winner."
Williams is currently a senior for Miami Jackson Senior High. She averaged 18 points, 11 rebounds, and four assists last year as a junior.
"Shontavia is the first signee this staff has had out of Miami," said Dugan. "She's a very explosive player that can score from beyond the arc and off the dribble. She possesses great quickness and has the ability to play outstanding defense."
Florida Atlantic next faces South Florida December 28 at FAU Gymnasium.
