Two Lady Owls Receive NSCAA Soccer Award

December 10, 2001 - The Florida Atlantic women's soccer team landed two players on the National Soccer Coaches Association of America 2001 South Regional Team.
Sophomore Midfielder Rhonda Jones and Junior forward Lisanne Peart were both named to the Third Team.
Jones from N. Lanarkshire, Scotland finished the season tied for the team lead in goals with 7 and points with 17. Jones the heart and soul of the Lady Owls, was also named to the Atlantic Sun All-Conference First Team as well as the Atlantic Sun All Tournament Team.
Peart, who is from Kingston, Jamaica finished the season with 7 goals, tied for the team lead with Jones, and 2 assists for 16 points. Peart was also named to the Atlantic Sun All-Conference First Team.
Jones and Peart are the first two FAU players to receive national recognition since Melissa Shev received the same honor in 1996.
Florida Atlantic finished the 2001 season at 14-5-1 overall, 7-2-1 in the Atlantic Sun, and advanced to the conference championship game before falling to Central Florida 2-1.
