JACKSONVILLE, FL -
For the second time in the team's first four games, Florida Atlantic University recorded a shutout as they defeated South Alabama, 2-0, Friday afternoon at the Jacksonville University Tournament. The win improves FAU to 3-1 on the season.
The Lady Owls would get all the scoring they would need just 2:14 into the match as Lisanne Peart connected with her third goal of the season to give FAU a 1-0 lead.
For the next 74 minutes, it was a defensive battle for both squads as neither team could find the goal until Jessica Kmiotek gave FAU an insurance score with 23:15 left in the match. It was Kmiotek's first goal of the season.
Despite being outshot 14-9, FAU was able to prevent South Alabama from scoring, due in large part to Molly Keating's four saves for the Lady Owls. It also marked the second shutout of the season for Keating.
