GAINESVILLE, FL - Florida Atlantic University fell to Wake Forest University, 3-0, Saturday afternoon in the consolation match of the University of Florida Invitational. Game scores were 15-5, 15-9, 15-6.
FAU (3-9) was led by Ashley Bodily's 10 kills and nine digs. Stacey Carlson also had nien digs for the Lady Owls.
FAU took an early 1-0 advantage in game one before Wake Forest won 10 of the next 11 points on their way to the 15-5 win.
In game two, FAU took a 3-1 lead before eight unanswered points gave Wake Forest a 9-3 lead. Trailing 12-4, FAU closed the gap to 12-8 before dropping game two 15-9.
The Demon Deacons prevented an early FAU lead in the third game by jumping out to a 7-0 advantage before finally winning 15-6.
FAU next takes on Georgetown University September 22 in the first roundof the Georgetwon classic.
