CANCUN, MEXICO -
Florida Atlantic University (3-7) was defeated by Arkansas State University, 100-75, Tuesday night in the consolation game of the Oral Roberts Fun-in-the-Sun Shootout in Cancun, Mexico. Ruta Griniute led the Lady Owls with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Julie Goad also had a career high with 14 points, along with eight assists. Tamala Vaughn had 12 while LaTorria Matthews finished with 10.
FAU was outshot by ASU (5-5) 47-percent to 46-percent. ASU, though, connected for 50-percent (11-of-22) from beyond the arc while FAU managed just four-of-12 from long range.
Arkansas State was led by Keeshia Evans, who had a game high 23 points and 12 assists. Natalie Goodall had 16.
"I think at times we played well," said FAU head coach Chancellor Dugan. "However, we need to work on being more consistent."
FAU will not play until December 30 at Kentucky. It's a break Dugan is looking forward to.
"It comes at a good time for us because we have some players banged up," said Dugan. "We've got the bulk of the season remaining, and I think we need to work to get better every time out."
