Florida Atlantic University scored three second-half goals to defeat visiting Jacksonville State University, 4-1, Friday night in a Trans America Athletic Conference battle. With the victory, FAU improves to 8-3 overall and 3-1 in TAAC play. The loss was JSU's (7-5, 3-1) first in TAAC play.
Four different Lady Owls scored in the effort. Lisanne Peart got the scoring going when she scored at 25:03 to give FAU a 1-0 lead. Helena Ternau assisted on the goal.
JSU's only goal came with three seconds left in the first half when Faiza Boujaafar blocked a ball into the goal from FAU goalkeeper Molly Keating.
FAU regained its lead with a score by Lauren Manfrass 3:15 into the second half to give FAU a 2-1 advantage. Peart made the first of two assists on the night.
FAU increased its advantage to 3-1 in the 60th minute when Melissa Bobby scored on an assist by Peart. Lauren Lucena closed out the FAU scoring at 70:21 with an assist from Lena Andersson.
"We deserved to win this game," said FAU head coach Brian Dooley. "We played two solid halves against and undefeated team in our conference."
FAU outshot JSU 16-5 and allowed just one shot in the second half.
