JACKSONVILLE, FL -
Playing most of the match in the rain and with a man-advantage, Florida Atlantic University defeated DePaul University, 1-0, Sunday afternoon at the Jacksonville University Tournament. FAU's Pablo Luna scored the match's only goal with 8:14 remaining. The victory improves FAU to 4-2 on the year and extended its winning streak to four games.
While FAU was tagged for five yellow cards, it was a red card by DePaul's Sean Fitzpatrick 29:24 into the first half that gave FAU the advantage the remainder of the match.
However, the Owls were unable to take advantage until the 82nd minute of play when Luna scored from ten yards out on an unassisted goal.
FAU outshot DePaul 18-7, with a 12-1 advantage in the second half. FAU's Jonas Kolstad stopped three DePaul shots as he recorded his second consecutive shutout and third in his past four matches.
