Volleyball 1996-1999
Kim Pruitt helped lead the Owls' volleyball team to its first conference title in 1998 - and the first NCAA Division I-A regional tournament appearance in Florida Atlantic University history. Along the way, Pruitt was named the 1998 Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament MVP. Pruitt, a three-time FAU Female Student-Athlete of the year ('96, '98, '99), appears on seven different career top-10 lists in the FAU volleyball record books. She was named an All-Atlantic Sun Conference first team player in 1997. Known as an aggressive power hitter from the outside, Pruitt was the go-to player in the Owl's offensive attack. She tallied 2,973 attempts and recorded 1,101 kills during her outstanding four year FAU career. She displayed her attacking skills from the backcourt and service areas as well, totaling 111 service aces and was both a team and league leader in digs- totaling 1,066 in her career. Pruitt's leadership spread from her team and its accomplishments throughout the athletic department, where she became a vocal supporter for adding football. Pruitt personified the term `student-athlete,' excelling in the classroom as a nursing major.
