A two-time CUSA All-Conference performer and the highest NFL drafted player in school history, the versatile Smith starred as both a lock-down defensive back and an explosive kick return specialist in his four years as an Owl. Smith was selected in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft by Indianapolis and played for the Colts, Detroit Lions and Tennessee Titans in his NFL career. He concluded his playing career with stints in the Alliance of American Football and the Arena League. As a senior captain, Smith was second-team All-CUSA as a defensive back and honorable mention as a kick returner along with being tapped the team's Defensive MVP. That came after a standout junior campaign that saw Smith finish among the national leaders with seven interceptions and a single-season school record 20 passes defended on his way to a first-team All-CUSA nod. Smith played in 44 games in his career with 118 tackles, nine interceptions and his 38 passes defended rank second all-time at FAU. The Miami native graduated from FAU in 2015 with a degree in communication studies.
