Basketball 1995-1998Â
Craig Buchanan ranks first in career field goals made (582), and was the first men's basketball player in the Florida Atlantic University history to surpass the 1,000 point plateau (1,501). Buchanan set the tone for a team making the transition from Division II to Division I. As freshman during the program's first season as a Division I member, Buchanan was the main offensive threat. Responding to the challenge of playing the country's best talent during his four-year career, which spanned 105 games, he was instrumental in the program's improvement from a 3-24 record during his freshman campaign to a 16-11 record and nearly winning a conference championship his senior season. Buchanan connected on 172 field goals in 1995-96 and sits atop the FAU all-time leaders with 582 baskets in his career. Defensively, the guard/forward is also listed among the program's top rebounders with a career total of 422. In 1994, Buchanan led the team in field goal percentage (.474), free-throw percentage (.770) and three-point percentage (.400). He also led the team in scoring average his sophomore through his senior seasons.
