BOCA RATON, Fla.
– The Florida Atlantic University women's swimming and diving team earned CSCAA Scholar All-America Team honors for the spring 2018 semester.
The academic honors are handed out each semester by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA). All teams with a 3.0 grade point average or higher are eligible for the award. The women's team recorded a 3.27 GPA for the spring.
"Our ladies did an excellent job in and out of the classroom this past year," head coach Lara Preacco
said. "I am proud of the way they pushed each other, and worked hard in order to surpass themselves in the pool and more importantly in the classroom."
Four individuals from the women's swimming and diving team recorded a 4.0 GPA in the spring, the second most of any team at FAU. Twenty-nine members recorded a 3.0 or higher, which was second behind football.
"This shows FAU's values and commitment to the continued pursuit of academic and athletic success, as well as personal development," Preacco said. "For the past 3 years, our FAU women's swimming & diving Team has worked hard to uphold those values on the pool deck and more importantly in the classroom. Thank you ladies and thank you to our amazing academic support staff, who work endless hours in the shadows, often with little credit. Go Owls!"
The men's and women's swimming and diving teams will be back on campus in the fall. The 2018-19 schedule will be released at a later date.
