BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University women's soccer team and Head Coach Patrick Baker have added another newcomer to the 2018 class in junior college transfer Darien Davis.
Davis most recently had a fantastic stint playing forward for Eastern Florida State College, where she was named NJCAA First Team All-American and Region 8 Player of the Year as a sophomore. She led the Titans with 15 goals in 16 games and added 10 assists. The New Port Richey native started her collegiate career at Florida Gulf Coast, where she was chosen Atlantic Sun All-Freshman, and she held the River Ridge High goal record as well.
Here is more on the newest Owl signee:
Why Davis chose FAU: "I appreciate the opportunity that Coach Baker and FAU has granted me. I'm looking forward to this upcoming season and getting to know my new teammates and helping my team bring home W's. I'm excited to start school at FAU and finish my degree there and become an FAU alumnus."
Coach Baker on Davis: "We have watched Darien impact soccer games as a youth player and college athlete for the past four years. She has speed and explosiveness that's hard to find, complimented with skill and good tactical awareness that make her a threat against any opponent. Darien is someone we feel can enhance our attack in 2018 - she creates chances for herself and others, scores goals and can change a game with one run. When we talked recently about her coming to Boca Raton, I could tell she was excited about giving fully of herself as a student and soccer player to FAU. It will be exciting to see Darien play and develop over the next two years."
Davis joins the six earlier FAU signees from this period, as announced here (http://www.fausports.com/sports/w-soccer/spec-rel/020718aaf.html). The 2018 Owls are just about five months away from the official start to the fall campaign, and the current squad is midway through the spring season. The next spring match is this upcoming Sunday on the road in Fort Myers, with FAU taking on FGCU at 4 p.m.
