BOCA RATON, Fla. - (Jan. 4, 2018) - The Florida Atlantic University men's basketball team opened its Conference USA home schedule in difficult fashion, losing to UAB 75-44 on Thursday night. The loss drops the Owls to 6-8 overall and 0-2 in C-USA play.

The Turning Point

Payton Hulsey converted a three-point play to trim the Blazers' (10-5, 1-1 C-USA) lead to six, 27-21, with 1:50 to go in the first half. From that point, UAB went on a 15-2 run over the next six minutes of game time to stretch its lead to 19 and the Owls never challenged again.


  • Ronald Delph just missed a double-double with eight points and 10 rebounds.
  • Justin Massey also had eight points for FAU.
  • Jailyn Ingram had six points, six rebounds and four assists.
  • Payton Hulsey had four steals, three points, two rebounds and an assist in his return after missing nearly four full games of action.

"Our turnover numbers have to come down. Teams are starting to play more physical against us and making it tougher (for us) on catches. When we work and execute, we've been pretty successful getting the ball where we want to get it to score."
