Boca Raton, Fla. -
Softball's Amanda Wilson and men's diver Ryan McIntire are the FAU Players of the Week as both took two victories in competition last week.
Wilson, the C-USA First-Team selection from last season, had an outstanding weekend at the FAU Strike Out Cancer Tournament. On Friday night, Wilson threw a complete game shutout in an 8-0 win over Toledo, scattering eight hits and striking out two. She capped the weekend off with her second straight complete game shutout, holding St. John's to six hits in a 3-0 win. For the weekend, she went 2-0 with five strikeouts and threw 14 shutout innings.
McIntire, the reigning CCSA Diver of the Year, dove his way to the Owls' first victory of the 2017 Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) Swimming & Diving Championships and defended his title by winning the 1-meter dive with a new CCSA, CCSA Championship meet and FAU record score of 398.35. He followed up his 1-meter performance by breaking the 400-point mark to win the 3-meter with a score of 414.55 on Thursday night. That also was a new CCSA, CCSA Championship meet and FAU record for the graduate student.
Softball will host its third consecutive tournament this weekend starting on Friday, Feb. 24 when the Owls take on UConn at 3:45 p.m. and Arkansas at 6 p.m. Men's swimming and diving has concluded their season, but the women will be in Atlanta this week to take part in the Conference USA Swimming & Diving Championships beginning on Wednesday, Feb. 22 through Feb. 25.
