Final Stats

BOULDER, Colo. -- The Florida Atlantic University women's basketball showed fight against Colorado on Wednesday night. After falling behind multiple times by double digits, the Owls battled back to bring the game within two possessions in the second half.

The Owls kept the score close in the first quarter, trailing by seven at the end of the period after a 5-0 Colorado run. The Buffaloes grew their lead in the second quarter, but the Owls kept the margin at seven by halftime.

In the third quarter, Colorado reached its biggest lead, up 16 with 5:24 left in the period, but the Owls battled back and used a 14-3 run to cut the lead to five. Eleven of the Owls' 14 points came from Cedeño.

Colorado was able to go up 14 in the fourth quarter, but once again FAU battled back and cut it to six. Unfortunately, there wasn't enough left on the clock to complete the comeback that the Owls were pushing for.

Sasha Cedeño led all scorers with 24 points in the game, tying her career high previously reached last season at Arizona. She also matched her career high in steals with three and added seven boards along with her impressive night. Fifteen of her 24 points came in the third quarter, when the senior seemingly took over the game and brought the Owls within six points of Colorado.

Raven Doyle caught fire in the second quarter, scoring eight of her 11 points in the frame. Doyle was two rebounds shy of a double-double. Danneal Ford continues to impress, filling out the stat sheet with 13 points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals. Melinda Myers provided a spark off the bench with nine points and four rebounds.

The Owls made clear tonight that one of their best offensive generators is defensive intensity. FAU caused Colorado to turn the ball over 21 times and capitalized by scoring 23 points on the Buffaloes mistakes.

The Owls will continue play on the road with a matchup at Indiana State on Monday. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. (EST).
