BOCA RATON, Fla. - (September 2, 2016) - The Florida Atlantic University men's soccer team recorded its first win of the season with a 1-0 shutout of Niagara on Friday night. Senior Jason Fitzgerald's first goal of the year proved to be the game-winner in the 69th minute.
"I thought we played well in the first half," FAU Head Coach Kos Donev said. "The boys tried to implement what we wanted to do and the style we wanted to play. In the second half, we got a great combo play with a great cross from Daniel Del Rio to Fitzgerald to put it away. I'm proud of the guys. They came out here and wanted to win this game and it was a great performance by them."
- The FAU defense held Niagara to just five shots on the night.
- Senior goalkeeper Phillip Hitpass notched a save in the shutout
- Fitzgerald's goal is the fifth of his career
