BOCA RATON, Fla. - Florida Atlantic University Athletics continues to provide a variety of options for Owl fans to follow its 2016 teams. A weekly radio show will be on tap as well as the second-annual "Countdown to Kickoff" television special.
"We have outstanding media partners and those relationships will expand even further in the coming weeks," said Pat Chun, FAU's vice president and director of athletics. "Our student-athletes continue to achieve at record levels academically and athletically at Florida Atlantic. Many of them have inspiring journeys and the opportunity to showcase them allows us to share in their great accomplishments. The best and brightest are right here on our campus and in our community."
The 2016 coverage will begin on Wednesday, Aug. 24 with Florida Atlantic Sports Talk. The hour-long radio show will air each Wednesday from 6-7 p.m. on ESPN 106.3 and on the ESPN App. The show will originate from remote locations the first two weeks, but fans are asked to join show host Ken LaVicka and his guests at the Burrow Bar & Grill, located in the Boca Raton campus Student Union, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton, Fla. 33431, each Wednesday night starting Sept. 14. LaVicka will be joined each week by special guests, including head football coach Charlie Partridge and other head and assistant coaches or players. ESPN 106.3 serves as the flagship station of FAU football and will be the home of in-game coverage beginning Saturday, Sept. 3 when FAU plays host to Southern Illinois.
Television coverage will begin on Saturday, Aug. 27 with the "Countdown to Kick-Off" produced by ESPN West Palm's TV team and will air on WPTV NewsChannel 5 at 7:30 p.m. The thirty-minute show will focus on the Owls' preseason camp, community outings, player profiles and will feature special guest Pat Chun, FAU's vice president and director of athletics, as well as Partridge.
The Owls will be featured on television six times in 2016 while the ODU contest will be a feature stream on CollegeInsider.com. The remaining games will be streamed live on FAUSportsTV.com. To watch games on FAUSportsTV.com
The 2016 season and home opener is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 3 versus Southern Illinois.
