DENTON, TEXAS - (May 12, 2016) -The No. 22 Florida Atlantic University softball team opened action at the Conference USA tournament with a 7-4 defeat of Louisiana Tech on Thursday. The win extended the Owls' (48-7) winning streak to 19 games.
Kylee Hanson's threw her 26th complete game of the year, improving her record to 27-3 on the season.
Delaney Rickey went 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored.
Tatum Buckley had a two-run single.
Carnesha Thompson had an RBI double and scored a run.
Mickey Bell singled and scored.
After Rickey reached on a bunt single in the first, a Lady Techster error allowed her to score on a Christina Martinez sacrifice bunt attempt. Rickey drove in a run in the second inning when she singled through a drawn in infield to score Kiley Southall and gave FAU a 2-0 lead. La. Tech tied the game in the fourth on a two-run home run. The score remained tied until the bottom of the fifth when the Owls scored five runs on three hits, with Buckley's two-run single doing the most damage. The Lady Techsters hit another two-run home run in the top of the seventh, but Madisyn Palmer made a running catch along the left field fence to end the game.
