BOCA RATON, Fla. (April 11, 2016) -For the fourth time this season, Florida Atlantic University junior Kylee Hanson has been named Conference USA Pitcher of the Week. It is the seventh time in her career that she has won the award.
The Owls swept rival FIU over the weekend to improve to 33-7 overall and 10-2 in conference play this season.
The Preseason Pitcher of the Year had a role in all three of FAU's victories. In Saturday's first game, Hanson threw a complete game three-hitter and didn't allow an earned run in the Owls' 4-1 win. In the nightcap on Saturday, she entered the game with the Owls' leading 3-2 and the tying run on first base with no outs in the bottom of the seventh. Hanson retired the next three batters to preserve the win. It was her fourth save of the season and the sixth of her career.
In Sunday's finale, she tossed her 10th complete game shutout of the season to improve to 17-3 on the year. For the weekend, she was 2-0 with one save, tallying 17 strikeouts, with just seven hits and no earned runs. For the season, she is 17-3 with 182 strikeouts and is second in the nation with a 0.67 ERA.
