Maja Ristić of volleyball and Jason Driskel of football have been chosen as Florida Atlantic University Players of the Week after paving the way for their teams to secure conference victories last week.
Ristić concluded her home career on a high note, going for 25 kills in a pair of straight-set victories over the weekend, good for a 4.17 kills per set average. The senior had 10 kills and added 10 digs against UAB for her 10th double-double of the season. On Saturday, she had 15 kills, five digs and four aces in a sweep of Charlotte. Ristić is now five kills away from the sixth best single season kill total in school history.
Driskel was 20-25-1 for 233 yards, rushing for 79 yards and one touchdown to secure the 35-31 win on Saturday versus UTEP. Driskel led the Owls 89 yards down field going 3-for-3 eating up 24 yards by air and adding another 29 with his legs. Following the score, he found Kalib Woods for the two-point conversion to pull within three at 31-28. With 2:46 remaining, the redshirt sophomore drove the Owls the length of the field going 7-for-8 for 68 yards and the score. In his final 7:42 of the game, he was 10-11 for 92 passing yards and 35 rushing yards to give the Owls a come-from-behind victory.
Volleyball will be the fifth seed in the Conference USA Tournament and will face fourth-seed UTSA in the first round on Friday, Nov. 18 in Houston, Texas. Football remains at home to play host to Old Dominion on Saturday, Nov. 19 at 6 p.m. for Senior Day.
