Thorsås Opens C-USA Outdoor Championship with Two Wins

EL PASO, Texas -

The first day of the Conference USA Outdoor Track and Field Championship saw Florida Atlantic University's Frida Thorsås claim victory in the high jump and shot put to earn second in the heptathlon with a score of 3,157 and three events remaining.

The freshman tied for first in the high jump with a personal best height of 1.67 meters. This marks the second best height on FAU's All-Time Top 10 List. She also took first in the shot put with a distance of 12.44 meters.

In the 100 meter hurdles, Thorsås claimed seventh with a time of 14.76. To end the night, she took ninth in the 200 meter dash in 26.26. Thorsås currently holds the school record in the heptathlon with 5,314 points and is ranked second in C-USA.

Friday, May 15 will feature the remaining heptathlon events, which includes the long jump, javelin and 800 meter run. Competition is slated to begin at 6:30 p.m. ET. The women's 10,000 meter will also take place at 10 p.m. ET. The meet will be streamed live here and real-time results can be found here.
