BOCA RATON, Fla. -
Florida Atlantic University's football team donned shorts and pads for Tuesday's practice, the final Tuesday practice of the 2015 spring.
Several of the Owls had opportunities to receive more reps with teammates being held out of practice due to illness. The day's team period was highlighted when redshirt-senior quarterback Jaquez Johnson went over the top to find redshirt-sophomore Kalib Woods for a big gain. The play set up the first-string offense for a score, which they were denied.
Junior quarterback Greg Hankerson then led the Owls the length of the field only for the offense to be denied the end zone for a second time. Redshirt-freshman quarterback Jason Driskel and FAU's offense marched down the field for the third time before Driskel found redshirt-senior Derek Moise for the score.
Defensively, senior corner Cre'von LeBlanc broke up the Owls' first attempt at a score and defensive lineman Nick Internicola, a redshirt sophomore who sat out a year ago due to transfer rules, was instrumental in defending the second drive by batting down a pass at the line of scrimmage.
FAU's spring practices will conclude on Saturday, April 11 with a 1 p.m. Spring Game played in FAU Stadium. Pregame activities begin outside the stadium at 10:30 a.m. The Owls will open the 2015 home schedule Friday, Sept. 11 versus Miami.
