BOCA RATON, Fla. -
Florida Atlantic University track and field's 4x100 meter relay team and baseball's Sean Labsan have earned FAU Player of the Week honors.
The 4x100 meter relay team of Deja Jones, Sitia Martinez, Sherline Valentin, and Regina Wilkerson broke a 10-year-old school record at the Pepsi Florida Relays on Saturday with a time of 45.20. The Owls are now ranked No. 2 in Conference USA, No. 10 in the East Region and No. 18 nationally in the 4x100. The team finished ninth overall out of nearly 50 teams.
Labsan shut down the most prolific offense in college baseball last Tuesday, allowing just one run in six innings of work to No. 6 UCF. It was the sophomore's second victory in as many outings. The sophomore struck out a career-high 10 batters and allowed just one hit through the first 4.2 innings. Labsan retired five-consecutive, all by strikeout. Through the first 15 batters faced, only one hit ball left the infield.
No. 16 Baseball will face the University of Miami on Wednesday, April 8 at 6 p.m. in Coral Gables and will then host C-USA rival FIU at home for a three-game series beginning on Friday, April 10 at 6:30 p.m. Track and Field also will travel to Coral Gables this week when they take part in the Miami Alumni Invitational on April 10-11.
