Florida Atlantic University diver Alexa Elkins was named Conference USA Co-Diver of the Week after strong showings against FIU and Indian River State College last week. This is the second time this season that the freshman has received this honor.
In Friday's meet against FIU, Alexa Elkins took first place in the three meter dive (293.85) just ahead of FIU's Rebecca Quesnel. This is currently the third best score in C-USA and qualifies her for the NCAA Zone B Diving Championships. She also earned second in the one meter with a final score of 287.55, which is fifth in the conference and also qualifies her for NCAA Zone B in this event.
In the women's win over IRSC on Saturday, the South Florida native took second place in the one meter with a score of 268.50. She followed that up with a second place finish in the three meter with a final score of 289.50.
Earlier this season in Dec. 2014, Elkins had one of her best outings against FGCU and Georgia Tech where she claimed first place in the one meter with a score of 260.4 and second place in the three meter with a final score of 258.45.
