Women's Basketball Hosts Barry in Exhibition Saturday

BOCA RATON, Fla. â€" The Florida Atlantic University women's basketball team kicks off the 2015-16 season with an exhibition against Barry University on Saturday, Nov. 7 at 5 p.m.

The Owls return nine players from their 2014-15 squad and welcome in three newcomers including two sophomores and a freshman. FAU Head Coach Kellie Lewis-Jay will helm the program for her fourth season.

Seniors Ali Gorrell and Morgan Robinson look to lead the team in their final seasons. Gorrell averaged 13.9 points and 6.5 rebounds per contest last year while Robinson tallied marks of 9.3 points and 4.0 rebounds per game.

Malia Kency and Kat Wright both return to the hardwood after posting 7.5 and 5.3 points per game, respectively, a year ago. Sasha Cedenio, Melinda Myers, Raven Doyle and Danneal Ford will each see their second seasons of action after being part of the youngest team in America last year.

Newcomers Nika Zyryanova, Halee Davis and Ra'Kyra Gabriel, along with redshirt freshman Ro Hayes, will have the opportunity to make an impact in their first seasons on the court.
