Men's Hoops Can't Hold Off Tulane, Lose 72-64

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Florida Atlantic University men's basketball team lost to Tulane 72-64 on Wednesday night.

The Owls (10-19, 5-9 C-USA) stormed out to an early advantage and led by as many as 16 in the first half. Seven first half turnovers prevented FAU from building an even bigger cushion. After Pablo Bertone laid in the last of his 16 first-half points to put the Owls up 31-18 with 2:31 on the clock, Tulane (16-13, 8-3) mounted a 18-4 run over the next 5:30 of game time to take 36-35 lead early in the second half.

FAU and Tulane traded baskets for the next several minutes, before Tulane managed to create some separation. A Marquan Botley three cut FAU's deficit to 56-51 with 7:31 to go before the Green Wave scored seven straight points to seal the victory.

Bertone was the only Owl to score in double figures, ending up with 28. Jackson Trapp scored seven points and added seven assists and four rebounds.

FAU will finish the regular season with two home games. The first will be on Sunday, March 2 against Southern Miss.
