BOCA RATON, Fla. (January 18, 2014) - Florida Atlantic University's men's tennis fell to Georgia State University, ranked No. 62, 6-1 in the squads second match of the weekend.
Florida Atlantic, coming off a win on Friday at Georgia Southern, traveled to Atlanta to face the Georgia State Panthers. The Owls won two of the three doubles matches early to secure their only point of the match, but was unable to capture a singles point. FAU sophomore duo Andrei Morin-Kougoucheff and Will Neuner won their match against Thomas Cook and Valentin Horvat 6-1. The only other win of the match for FAU was the pair of Sean Bacha and Robert Dubuque who downed Georgia State's Eric Baum and Jannis Koeke 6-4.
FAU Head coach Ricardo Gozanlez was proud of the fight his player put up in singles despite the outcome.
"Today we lost to a tough Georgia State team. During singles play, they played the bigger points better than us. We had many chances on all six singles courts but we weren't able to capitalize on the big points."
The men's tennis team takes the court tomorrow Jan. 19 at 9 a.m. against Kennesaw State in Alpharetta, Ga.
