BOCA RATON, FL - In a game that filled with back and forth momentum swings, the Florida Atlantic men's basketball team outlasted Hofstra 61-57 on Tuesday afternoon.

Neither squad could firmly maintain control of the game in the early going, as both sides exchanged buckets for the first several minutes of the contest. The Pride (3-10) took a five point lead seven minutes in the affair, but the Owls (7-8) answered with five straight points to tie the score at 18.

That scenario would replay itself multiple times over the course of the afternoon, as soon as one team seemed to have the game in their grasp, the opposition would rally back to regain control. Hofstra led 36-29 at the end of the first half, due to its 55.6 percent shooting in the first half.

FAU scored the first eight points of the second half to take a 37-36 lead. A little later on, a Stefan Moody layup put the Owls up 42-40. That was the last FAU field goal for nearly five minutes and in the interim, Hofstra has built a nine point edge. The Hofstra lead was still five with six minutes remaining, when Greg Gantt hit a pair of free throws to cut the margin to three. A flagrant foul sent Richard Morrow to the line, Morrow drained both attempts from the charity stripe and Gantt hit a three-pointer to give FAU a 57-55 lead, the 12th lead change of the game.

Hofstra tied the score on a jumper, but Jordan McCoy drew a foul and hit a pair of free throws to put the Owls back ahead 59-57. Cavon Baker stole the ball on the subsequent Hofstra possession and made one of two free throws. The Pride missed what would have been a game tying three pointer and Morrow grabbed the rebound and made a free throw to seal the win.

Gantt led all scorers with 24 points, Moody had 16 points, seven rebounds and three assists and McCoy added eight points and eight rebounds.

FAU will resume conference play on Thursday when they host Louisiana-Lafayette. Game time is set for 7 p.m. and live stats and live audio of the game will be available at
