GAINESVILLE, FL - A select few Florida Atlantic track athletes competed in this weekend's UF Relays, and one set a new school record.

Senior Rebecca Hallam broke her own record in the 5,000 meter run, finishing third in the race in a time of 16:55.83. She previously set the record last April (16:58.16), and now holds both the FAU indoor and outdoor marks.

Two other times set this weekend propelled the respective runners into first place in the conference.

In the 3,000 meter steeplechase, freshman Michelle Jax shaved nearly 18 seconds off her personal best to finish eighth in the race at 10:51.37. With a finish of 1:00.32, Danielle Aromashodu shot to the top of the SBC list in the 400 meter hurdles. She was 25th on Saturday.

Ashani Roberts added another top-10 finish to her resume by claiming eighth place in the triple jump, at 12.34 meters.

Besides Hallam, two other Owls competed in the 5,000 meters: Stacy Paton (22nd, 18:31.70) and Deanna Loafman (26th, 19:00.30). Michael Vidal participated on the men's side, finishing 27th at 15:25.70.

The team will travel to Coral Gables next weekend to participate in the UM Hurricane Alumni Invitational. Only three more meets remain before the Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Championships, beginning May 11.
