Boca Raton, FL - The Florida Atlantic University women's tennis team finished strong with a pair of victories on Monday to highlight the team's play during the FGCU Eagle Invitational. Junior Natasha Phillips and freshman Taylor Briggs won singles matches to tally their first victories of the season.

Phillips dropped only two games to pick up a 6-1, 6-1 triumph to earn seventh-place honors in her singles flight.

Briggs' first career victory came on a 6-4, 6-3 straight-set victory over FGCU's Zhoe Solaun on Monday.

Senior Erika Mrazkova dropped a hard-fought three-set singles match to the University of North Texas' Ksenia Bardabush. Mrazkova won the opening set 6-2, but lost a third-set tiebreaker 10-5.

Freshman Natalia Tomaszewicz also competed in three matches this weekend, marking her first collegiate action.

The Owls resume their dual match season on Saturday, January 21, when they travel to Jacksonville University for a 10 a.m. match.
