Volleyball Drops Two at Campus USA Credit Union Invite

GAINESVILLE, FL - The Florida Atlantic University volleyball team had a tough start to the 2011 season, losing to Clemson and #9 Florida on Friday.

The Owls lost their first match of the season to Clemson in straight sets (25-18, 25-16, 25-16). FAU was competitive throughout all three sets, but came up short. Thacilli Pereira led the Owls with eight kills in the match. Sara Stoll hit a team high .300 in her first game action in nearly two years. Lauren Jones had 17 assists in her first match as Owls' setter.

In the nightcap against the host Gators, FAU lost in three sets (25-10, 25-10, 25-18). The Owls offense was stymied and unable to gain any momentum against Florida. Pereira and Georgia Robinson had five kills each in the match.

FAU will finish action at the Campus USA Credit Union Invite on Saturday when they play Jacksonville at 6:00 p.m.
