BOCA RATON, FL- The Florida Atlantic University women's golf team placed third in the World Golf Village Intercollegiate after only playing 36 holes of golf. The third round was supposed to start Tuesday morning at 8:00 a.m. on the 6,073 yard The Slammer & The Squire Course, but due to rain the final round was cancelled. With the rainout, the final scores are from the previous two rounds that were played on Monday.
Daytona State College finished the tournament in first place with a 35 above par score of 611 (308, 303), three strokes ahead of Stetson. Daytona State College's Mitsuki Katahira also lead the individuals by being the only golfer to finish with a below par score of 141. Stetson finished in second with a two round total of 614. Stetson shot the lowest round of the tournament in the second round with a score of 301. Coming in nine strokes behind Stetson, FAU finished in third place in the intercollegiate with a score of 625 (316, 309).
Finishing in the top ten individually, Elisabetta Bertini lead the Owls finishing in sixth place overall with a score of 151 (77, 74), and Jennifer Norton finished in eighth place shooting a nine stroke above par score of 153 (77, 76). Anna Wiklund finished tied in 24th place with a score of 161, and Kayla DeSuza and Brooke McBoyle also placed in the top 30 of the tournament tied for 28th place. DeSuza and McBoyle both calculated two round totals of 162.
The FAU women's golf team will next compete at the Sun Belt Conference Championships that will be hosted in Muscle Shoals, AL April 18-20 to conclude their season.
