BOCA RATON, FL- Florida Atlantic women's golf team lost in a playoff after finishing tied in the final round of the EKU El Diablo Intercollegiate with host, Eastern Kentucky. With previous rounds of 315 and 314 on the first two days, the Owls shot the second best round (302) of the tournament on Saturday in Citrus Springs, FL to even the score card with the Colonels. Both teams finished the event with a total of 931 for the three rounds.
St. John's (935) placed third concluding the three days of play, but shot the best round of the tournament with a 298 on Saturday. St. John's was led by Harin Lee who was the individual winner of the weekend as well. Harin shot three rounds of 73 for a total of 219.
Marilyne Cadieux played consistently throughout all three rounds shooting in the 70s each day to lead the Owls. Ending the tournament with a three over par 75 for her third round, Cadieux finished with a 54-hole total of 226 (75, 76, 75). Her steady performance gave her the edge to place third individually for the weekend, tied with Eastern Kentucky's Linda Hogberg.
Besides Cadieux, Elisabetta Bertini (229- 81, 79, 79) and Jennifer Norton (232- 80, 74, 78) also placed in the top ten for the weekend. Bertini moved up five spots to fifth place to beat out teammate Norton who ended the event in eighth place.
FAU's Kayla DeSuza (247- 79, 86, 82) and Brooke McBoyle (247- 82, 85, 80) tied each other for 25th place at the par 72, 5,902-yard El Diablo Golf & Country Club.
The Owls will next play March 14-15 in the North-South Collegiate at the Jacksonville Beach Golf Course in Jacksonville, FL.
