Rockwall, Tex. - Eszter Bucz provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships in three events and won one Sun Belt Conference title as the Florida Atlantic University women's swimming and diving team finished fifth in this year's conference championships in Rockwall, Texas.
Bucz won the 400-yard individual medley by a two-second margin with a time of 4:18.42. The sophomore from Budapest, Hungary later had a runner-up effort in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:14.84) and a second-place finish in the 200-yard individual medley (2:01.61). All three times are provisionally qualifying times for the NCAA Championships, and Bucz must wait to see if those performances are good enough to participate in the meet.
Other Owls having strong performances at the Sun Belt Conference Championships included junior Jonna Nyback, who placed seventh in the 50-yard freestyle (23.87); junior Erin Hersey, who had a 15th-place showing in the 200-yard individual medley (2:09.47); and sophomore Maegan Butler, who finished fourth in 3-meter diving (243.25 points).
Butler will have a chance to be a NCAA Championships qualifier through performances in the Diving Zones at the University of Georgia later this month.
Overall, the Owls tallied 291 points over the four-day event to finish behind champion University of Denver.
